Data Explained
Bots Chart This chart displays the number of requests made by search engine bots (or crawlers/spiders). The purpose of the bots are to index site content. Currently, only the top 3 (Google, Yahoo, and MSN) are displayed as they make up 95% of the indexing and referrals.
Referrals Chart This chart displays the number of requests that were sent from search engines -- the results reveal a combination of both search engine popularity as well as effective indexing techniques by the various engines.

How the Data is Collected
All data represent page requests only, and do not factor in hits to images or other files (such as robots.txt).

For search engine bots, the User Agent property is used in the identification of the bot; for the referrals chart, the Referrer property is used to identify the source.
